Founded in 1994, Squadra Coppi emerged from the distinguished history of two notable DC-area teams: Kodak Ektar Film and Victory Velosport. The founders of Squadra Coppi envisioned a cycling club that went beyond the traditional team model, establishing a community centered around equality and inclusivity. Supported by “Coppi’s Organic,” a restaurant named in honor of the legendary Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi, the club quickly grew into a vibrant hub for passionate cyclists.

Over the years, Squadra Coppi has been home to a remarkable array of talent. Highlights include a junior rider who claimed the U.S. Elite Road Race championship and earned a spot on the U23 American team, and a female cyclist who conquered the renowned Mount Washington hill climb in the club’s Coppi jersey. The team has also celebrated numerous state and regional champions across various disciplines. The club’s motto, “Vincere Insieme,” or “winning together,” serves as the foundation of their ethos and reflects their commitment to shared success.

Squadra Coppi continues to be a welcoming and inclusive community for cyclists of all levels. Members are encouraged to push their limits, grow as athletes, and forge lifelong friendships. As they look ahead, Squadra Coppi remains dedicated to embodying the spirit of camaraderie and excellence that has defined them for three decades.
